Seth is a St Albans City FC fan, we often bump into each other at home games. What a fantastic job, redesigning and planning our beautiful St Albans homes! I originally met Seth through his wife Crishi AKA The White Lotus Cake Company. What a hugely creative pair...

How long has your business been trading in St Albans and why is it unique?

Seth White Architects were established just over 2.5 years ago in September 2020, during lockdown. I had previously worked for a range of well-renowned Architectural practices in London, including Squire & Partners and John McAslan & Partners, where I gathered enough experience and knowledge to feel confident setting up my own business. So who are Seth White Architects? We are an RIBA Chartered practice based in St Albans, specialising in residential new builds, extensions and conversions. Our passion for architecture and design means we strive to create soulful environments for our clients to live and work in. We pride ourselves on really understanding the specific needs/ desires of our clients and we create designs that often far exceed their expectations. Sustainability is also a core principle in the practice beliefs and we aim to create well considered designs that will stand the test of time and reduce the impact on our planet.

What is your personal connection to the City other than your business?

I moved to St Albans in 2014 with my wife when she was pregnant with our eldest child. We wanted to live close to her family and as she'd grown up in St Albans we'd been to visit many times and loved the city. We now live in the Fleetville area where both our children go to school and we really like the community feel and local amenities. We're only a short walk to the city centre and love eating out at many of the great restaurants and bars in our free time.

Bespoke, Dynamic, Creative

1 life goal - this can be realistic or pure fantasy.

Like most Architects and Designers, I would love to design and build our dream family home from scratch! I love generating design concepts for our clients and seeing their reaction when a concept comes to life however, I would love to see my wife and kids reactions to a dream home of our own! We'd definitely have a games room, big cinema room and an underground swimming pool....one day maybe!
What era property/style is your favourite?
Well that's a tough question, I like design elements from many different eras and Architectural styles around the world but I would have to say Mid Century Modernist Architecture is my favourite. I really admire the work of legendary Architects Frank Lloyd Wright and Le Corbusier who have influenced many designers including myself over the past century. 'Falling Water' is on my list of buildings to visit if I'm ever in Pennsylvania, beautiful design and setting!
Seth to Karen: If you could have dinner at any restaurant in the world, where would it be, what would you eat and who would you take?
Karen: I love this! I would like to go to the underwater restaurant Ithaa at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Hotel. I would take my husband Dean as we have spoken about visiting the Maldives (well I have) for many years and the children (sorry Dean). At the moment it is stuck on my fantasy bucket list... But what an experience! I love eating fish so I would eat anything they had on the menu, I can imagine the experience would override the food anyway.
