Browns Brasserie & Bar, Bushey

Sunday Lunch at Browns Brasserie & Bar, Bushey

I recently popped for Sunday Lunch at Browns Brasserie & Bar Bushey and it’s definitely one I wanted to share with you all.

It’s the kind of place that feels special, but still really relaxed – perfect for a long lunch with friends and it so near to St Albans.

How far is Browns Brasserie & Bar, Bushey from St Albans?

If you’re coming from St Albans, Browns Brasserie & Bar Bushey is only about a 20 minute drive, so really easy to get to. It’s close enough for a spontaneous lunch but feels like a bit of a change of scene.

Parking (always important!)

You know I always check this before recommending somewhere… and thankfully parking is easy. There’s a car park and additional parking nearby, so you don’t need to stress about where to leave the car – especially helpful if you’ve got children with you.

Is it good with children?

Yes! Even though it has that stylish brasserie feel, it’s actually very family friendly.

The children’s menu has some really good options (not just the usual basics), so it works well if you’re meeting friends but bringing the children along too.

You can also bring dogs into the bar area – just not into the main restaurant.

The food & atmosphere

The restaurant itself is really lovely inside – bright, comfortable and relaxed.

The menu has a really nice mix of dishes, from lighter lunch options, sharing platters to more indulgent plates. Everything we ordered was beautifully presented and full of flavour.

Three of us opted for the Browns Roast Beef, Horseradish crème fraîche and Garlic, Lemon & Thyme Roast Chicken Bread sauce, apricot & thyme stuffing. All came with red wine gravy, Yorkshire pudding, selection of roast potatoes, roast vegetables and seasonal greens served as a sharing plate with all the sides and trimmings – it looked and tasted amazing! We also went for a vegetarian option – Portobello Mushroom & Halloumi Burger – Panko-crumbed portobello mushroom, grilled halloumi, roasted red pepper, Roquito®-infused honey salsa and fries.

Perfect for…

I’d definitely recommend it for:

• Lunch with friends
• A relaxed date
• A family meal
• Celebrating something special
• Near to St Albans

I always love finding places that are close to home but feel like a treat, and this is definitely somewhere I’d happily go back to.

If you’re looking for somewhere new to try near St Albans, this one is worth adding to your list. For other restaurant ideas visit my Restaurant Guide.
